About

About

I'm Leon Tschurtschenthaler [tʃurtʃɛntalɛɾ], and I am a Game Designer.

Creating exciting and enjoyable experiences is what I love about game development. While I've mainly worked as a general Game Designer up to now, I want to specialize in level design. There's just something magical about taking beautifully crafted assets, captivating narrative and interesting mechanics and piecing it all together to build something for the player to enjoy.

Even before I started making games with others, I prototyped my own board games. I'm passionate about creating things, especially as a team; basing on the work of my teammates and expanding on each others ideas to form an experience for others to enjoy. For me, both creating games and playing them is far more enjoyable and has more meaning to it once we do it together.

Lego

Since I can remember, I've been playing with LEGOs. I especially enjoyed the Star Wars sets (did you get the reference earlier?), building and recreating all kinds of spaceships for this galaxy far, far away. My favorite: The TIE/D Defender, 8087.

(PS: If you ever find yourself with a LEGO Deathstar on your hands and you don't know what to do with it, I know someone who'd love to help out (°v°) )

T T R P G

I've been playing tabletop role-playing games for about 5 years now. As someone who's really into crafting engaging experiences for their players, I naturally became the forever-GM.
Currently looking forward to playing Daggerheart - once I can get my hands on one of those books...

Volunteering

I used to be a paramedic at the Austrian Red Cross before moving to Germany to work in gamedev. Jumping from emergency services to the games industry was quite a step. Still, I help out at my former red cross station every now and then on a voluntary basis if shifts need filling.

Networking

Many people reading this probably don't think of networking as a hobby. Although it can be daunting sometimes, there are few things that I enjoy as much as networking - especially on events! So, hit me up if you want to meet up - Devcom, Gamescom, German Dev Days - you name it!
